Welcome to ... THE NZ YOWIE COLLECTORS' SITE! (FINAL UPDATE: 20 September 2009) The Web site that was for Cadbury Yowie collectors on the right side of the Tasman (as opposed to the left/wrong side, where Australia is!) has now closed. It lasted for over a decade, and in its heyday, it was one of the most comprehensive and up-to-date Yowie sites to be found anywhere on the World Wide Web. I had not updated the site since December 2007, so my heart was no longer in it. In any case, Yowies had stopped being sold in New Zealand at around the end of April 2005, so there was nothing new to add. It does not seem likely that Cadbury will ever re-introduce them. However, I will be keeping my Yowie collection, which is pretty complete, and I still have my own private version of the site (to wit, the Microsoft Publisher file that I used to make it). So I could revive it one day, but that won't happen unless Cadbury itself gets Yowies going again. My thanks to everyone who has swapped Yowies with me or bought them off me down through the years. Indeed, thanks also to everyone who sold me Yowie figurines or papers, or for that matter, Choco Egg ones. (In later years, the site also covered Japanese Choco Eggs, which are still going, to the best of my knowledge.) Some of you have come and gone, but there are some collectors out there with whom I have struck up friendships that I value greatly, and which have lasted well past the demise of Yowies. The NZ Yowie Collectors' Site was launched on 12 December 1998. It has now closed for good on 20 September 2009. At least it lasted longer than the Yowies to which it was devoted, and also outlasted many other similar sites. All that is left now is this page, and that too will probably be deleted by the end of the year. But a site that has stuck around for so long deserves some sort of proper farewell.
